If all required Steps and Step Components are not completed with a passing grade within a maximum of seven years, the earliest USMLE passing performance will no longer be valid for ECFMG Certification. In other words, once a student passes a Step or Step Component, the student will have seven years to pass all of the other Step(s) or Step Component(s) required for ECFMG Certification.
